Discover Central Herzegovina: A Journey Through History and Nature
This comprehensive tour is designed as a blend of culture and history, featuring a visit to the stunning Kravica Waterfall and light hiking through the most iconic historic towns of Central Herzegovina.
Blagaj & the Fortress of Herceg Stjepan
Our journey begins in Mostar, heading south toward our first destination: the medieval town of Blagaj. We will hike up to the pre-Ottoman fortress of Herceg Stjepan, which offers a breathtaking historical panorama of the valley. Afterward, we descend back to Blagaj to visit the famous Blagaj Tekke, a historic Dervish monastery.
(Hike: 2 km total, with a 150 m ascent).
Žitomislići & Počitelj
We continue our drive to Žitomislići to visit its historic Orthodox monastery. Further south, we reach the medieval town of Počitelj, known for its narrow stone alleys and perfectly preserved Ottoman architecture. Here, we will visit the Šišman Ibrahim Pasha Mosque and climb the iconic stone towers for a spectacular view of the Neretva River valley.
(Walk: 1 km total, with a 100 m ascent).
Kravica Waterfalls
A 20-minute drive takes us to the Kravica Waterfall, a renowned natural monument. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy a refreshing swim. We will stay as long as you like to soak in the beauty.
(Walk: 1 km total, with a 50–100 m descent/ascent).
Ljubuški Fortress
Our path leads to the old town fortress overlooking Ljubuški. This medieval stronghold of Herceg Stjepan provides a fantastic vista spanning the valley, the Croatian border, and the high Herzegovinian mountains.
Optional Experiences
Lunch at Koćuša Waterfall: Enjoy traditional domestic dishes at the "Koćuša" waterfalls on the Trebižat River in Ljubuški, surrounded by a wonderful natural atmosphere.
Međugorje Sanctuary: A visit to the world-famous pilgrimage site on our return trip to Mostar.
